The mission of Meedan’s research team is to increase and deepen our understanding of how information inequalities affect people differently and to develop the tools and methods to widen access. We envision a world in which all people regardless of their languages, locations, or incomes have the ability to effectively locate the most pertinent information, evaluate the quality and credibility of that information, and make the decisions they want.

Meedan’s cross-organization research efforts bridge academics and practitioners. Through social science research and the development of novel machine learning methods, we generate new insights, bring academic rigor to our product making our AI more effective, and contribute knowledge to the broader research community.

We tackle the most challenging issues of the day, from anti-Asian hate to fact-checking across languages to pandemic science to help get out in front of new misinformation trends.
