Take a look at some of the important initiatives we’re working on in a variety of categories.
We’re building an AI classifier to analyze effective reportage on the changing climate and working hard to design the Climate Misinformation Risk Index.
We’re conducting a global health resource gap analysis and creating large language models for public health information during crises. We’re also researching opportunities and risks in this area related to synthetic media and generative AI.
We build and support coalitions of community organizations, researchers and technologists who improve on existing methods for understanding and responding to the information needs of communities affected by conflict. We’re also collaborating with UNICEF to design a gender-informed moderation framework for creating safer online forums.
We facilitate capacity-building workshops and simulations, connect networks of experts, provide training in monitoring, evaluation and the disbursement of funds and promote efforts to reduce the impact of vicarious trauma. We also deploy rapid response funds to swiftly address new issues as they emerge.
Take a closer look at how we’ve worked with partners throughout the world to respond to natural disasters, armed conflict and more.
In collaboration with civil society organizations and community media outlets, we design cross-border projects to exchange information through closed messaging platforms using the Check tipline solution.
We work with partner organizations to customize workflows for handling harmful content. In particular, we focus on forms of content often overlooked by AI moderation systems due to linguistic and cultural limitations.
Impacted communities too often lack access to the information they need in times of crisis. This can be due to constraints around which topics are covered, the languages in which they’re explored or the medium of publication. We conduct research to better understand these information gaps.
Public heatlh emergencies can encompass acute and prolonged phases. We focus on getting vital info to the people who need it.
The Health Desk initiative provides on-demand scientific information to journalists and fact-checkers seeking to quickly communicate complex topics to audiences in eight languages. Through this project, we develop standardized health information data models that can be syndicated for use across technologies.
